From Droid to iPhone

The Upgrade
Once I heard the Droid was the next big thing for Verizon, I had to get it. That is exactly what happened. I went from an old flip phone, to the amazing world of smart phones. I went with the original Droid, or the Droid 1. I loved every little thing about my Droid. Facebook, Twitter, and even more apps filled my phone. It was so convenient it made me wonder how people couldn’t hop on this bandwagon.
However, as time went on, and new phones came out, I could see that my Droid was quickly falling behind. Honestly this wasn’t even an issue for me. I was an original. The phone, however, liked to disagree with me. After about a year I could only complain about the Droid. Stupid problems, force closes, and freezing became a common occurrence. Despite these problems, there was still good news on the horizon.
Enter the iPhone. It was finally coming to Verizon. I’m pretty sure everyone involved with Verizon Wireless was excited and thankful for this. It just so happened that I was finally done and over my Droid. Today an iPhone 4 still enjoys its “room” in my pocket daily. All the problems that plagued the Droid were nonexistent on the iPhone. I have yet to find any major issues with my phone. I couldn’t be happier.
Droid Pros:
- Expansive App store
- Google contact sync
- Easy to root (jailbreak)
- Rooting is encouraged
- Highly customizable home screen
- Newer droids are 4G capable
- Easy ways to get free apps (pirating apps)
- One of the better phones with navigation capabilities
Droid Cons:
- Need a force closer/task killer
- Need to turn phone off after a few days to prevent frequent freezing
- Some apps constantly force close or freeze
- Sometimes the phone freezes during a phone call, making it impossible to answer
- Battery life is ok at first, but progressively gets worse
- Phone will slow down over time
IPhone Pros:
- Better quality app store with more popular apps
- Best battery life available
- Retina display – best quality screen overall
- Syncs with iTunes Library making it easier to have music
- No need to turn off phone after a few days
- No need for a task killer
- No issues with freezing
- Apps only force close on rare occasions
Iphone Cons:
- Jailbreaking is highly frowned upon
- Customization options are very limited
- Navigation isn’t the best, but it gets the jobs done
- Anything that isn’t great, like maps for example, can be found in the App Store, but usually for a price
- The “great” apps can be pretty expensive
- A case is a must have

I too made the transition from the Droid 2 to the iPhone 4. To sum up the difference between the two, the droid had similar features but they would often simply not work, while the iPhone had even more features and everything just seems to work. The only thing I miss from the droid is the voice enhanced turn by turn navigation as you mentioned above.
